Description of the project
The overall aim of the project is to investigate key technical and optimization issues related to techno-economic considerations of biomass/waste utilization for heat and power production together with biofuel production. The project includes two dimensions of advanced biomass heat and power plants, i.e. Techno-economic assessment of bio-refinery system integrated with biomass-based combined heat and power plants and Develop dynamic models for online Process optimization to enhance the production efficiency at CHPs.
The project will result in capacity enhancement of existing CHP plants by generating heat and power together with biofuel utilizing flexible biomass through polygeneration systems. The integration will add another revenue stream in terms of biofuels and additional power production. We will be able to evaluate the system’s performance and potential impacts such as impacts on thermal performance of existing CHP plants. In addition, With better control of the production processes, energy can be saved through better use of the fuel, but also maintenance on demand systems will be developed to reduce costs for down-time and unnecessary maintenance.
