About the project

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected healthcare worldwide. The sudden transition has posed a significant challenge. Knowledge about the virus´s aggressive spread was lacking, while the number of people in need of care multipled. Previous research shows the pandemic has exposed healthcare personnel to extreme stress, with a risk of adverse health effects. However, there is still a lack of understanding regarding the impact of this healthcare transition on healthcare personnel. In this project, we aim to investigate how healthcare personnel have experienced the transition during the pandemic, with a focus on studying the work environment, aspects of health, protective mechanisms, empowerment and recovery.

The project aims to explore healthcare workers' experiences of the transition of the Covid-19 pandemic with regard to work environment and health using longitudinal, descriptive, exploratory, qualitative and quantitative study designs.


Project objective

The project objective is to provide the most strategic and optimal tools to support healthcare professionals in the face of future healthcare crises. The results will be used to develop support for both healthcare professionals and healthcare organizations. In research, the results provide ways forward for interventions to develop sustainable and strategic supports to strengthen and preserve the health of healthcare workers.
