The theoretical framework for the study is positive organization theory (POS). The factors promoting RNs’ work motivation are studied by participant observations and interviews, with an ethnographic approach. The knowledge generated by the study could enhance a successful teamwork and thereby high quality and safe nursing care. A further gain would be theory development, since most studies of POS are conducted in other settings. It is also important to underscore the positive aspects of RN work, as the current focus is manly on problems and stressors.
