CPI builds on a unique combination of top researchers from production engineering, computer science and energy optimization required to tackle novel industrial challenges, thereby providing the required interdisciplinary research and supporting the University’s strategy of Industry 4.0. The digitalization of manufacturing has been identified as an enabler for a sustainable industry.
However, benefiting fully from digital technologies requires the development of future production concepts that significantly differ from the way production is performed today. The build-up of focused research, competencies, and facilities at MDU alongside the industrial know-how and methods for co-production developed at MITC provides a comprehensive base for a Competence Center that can develop next-generation digital solutions for the manufacturing industry and disseminate these to a wider audience
Purpose
The overall purpose is to to establish an internationally competitive research and innovation arena conducting innovative production research on the deployment of smart technologies that ensures a sustainable, equal, accessible, and competitive manufacturing industry.
Project objectives
The goal of this project is to develop a full application for a competence center based on a detailed analysis.
