MDH researcher top ranked for his contributions to research on subsidiaries of multinational corporations

Ulf Andersson, Professor of Business Studies, is one of the most published scholars in the world in research on subsidiaries of multinational companies. His research helps subsidiaries and multinational corporations ensuring employment, profitability and a positive development.

Ulf Andersson studies knowledge development in multinational corporations – how this is dependent on the knowledge-development taking place in the subsidiaries. His research shows how subsidiaries become important in multinational corporations due to their embeddedness, initiatives, and development of technology and business in their local business networks.

– My research is unique in that I focus on the non-hierarchical perspective and the view of the environment surrounding firms as networks of business relationships rather than ”markets”, says Ulf Andersson. This contributes to increased knowledge of the importance of subsidiaries and their environments for the development of the entire multinational corporation, both technologically and in a business sense.

In a recently published study in the Journal of International Business Studies (the highest-ranked journal in international business), Ulf Andersson is in fourth place of the most published scholars in the world, relating to research on subsidiaries of multinational corporations. The study, which lists the researchers who have contributed most to the literature on subsidiaries in multinational corporations since 1990, shows moreover that Ulf Andersson’s articles are the sixth most cited studies within the field, which puts him as number eleven in the world regarding his influence in this area of research.

– I am very honoured to be ranked as one of the most influential and productive researchers in the world within my field of research, says Ulf Andersson.

Ulf Andersson teaches, for example, in the International Business Management programme and the Master’s programme in International Marketing.

– What the students get from my teaching is knowledge preparing them to analyse, understand and make decisions on the strategies of subsidiaries and multinational corporations in different situations.
