Do you want to create change? Discover how foresight and transformative innovation can help you anticipate future challenges and opportunities, identify signals and develop strategies for a viable future.

About the course

Foresight is a way to explore, imagine and anticipate potential futures. It can enable identification of signals and emergent issues and also explore challenges and opportunities in these possible futures. This approach is necessary in any innovation process, but especially in transformative innovation where the objective is to create positive change on a larger scale.

Transformative innovation goes beyond disruptive and sustainable innovation. Systems need to respond to the changing environment and move towards a viable future.

If you are working, you can use the course exercises in your own development work. The goal is to create knowledge about the field itself, and also to provide the conditions for self-reflection and a future-oriented approach. These are key competencies, both for individuals and organizations. Our goal is to offer a course with a high degree of flexibility so that the studies can be combined with your work.

The course includes pre-recorded videos, texts and articles for self-study and the study pace is flexible. There are no scheduled meetings in the course.

You will learn how to

  • apply concepts, methods and models in foresight for transformative innovation, identify weak signals and patterns for transformative innovation and experiment with methods and models together with stakeholders from different perspectives for future-informed innovation
  • reflect on sustainable development and apply this knowledge in transformative innovation, as well as create representations of possible futures that promote problematization and critical reflection
