Objectives
The purpose of the course is to broaden the knowledge and understanding of scientific foundation in strategy and management of digital business. The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of challenges with digital business, central concepts in digitalisation and frequent methods for identifying and solving problems in digital business.
The course strives to enable critical reflection on different strategies. We do this by discussing real cases and running a simulation.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student should be able to:

2. Describe common approaches for developing strategies in digital business.

3. Demonstrate skills in managing digital business.
4. Design and plan a scientific report with digital business relevance.

6. Be able to critically reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies that can be used in digital business.
Course content
The course introduces digital technologies and discusses the role of digitalization in firms, that has increased the interconnections among processes, products, and services. Based on a theoretical foundation that are acquired from latest research, students will evaluate and report (both verbally and in text) on the challenges and opportunities of digitalization.

Lectures, seminars and simulation.
Specific requirements
Business Administration 60 credits with progression of theese 15 credits must be on level G1F. In addition English course 6 is required.

Seminar (SEM1) 3.5 hp, grade Excellent (A), Very good (B), Good (C), Satisfactory (D), Sufficient (E), Insufficient, complementary work possible (Fx), Insufficient (F) (learning outcomes 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6)

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
