Objectives
The course aims to give the student in-depth knowledge of how different forms of project management can be applied to innovation and design projects. The course also aims to give the student theoretical and practical knowledge of how to manage uncertainties within innovation and design projects.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to:
1. identify and argue for project management forms applicable to innovation and design projects
2. problematize management of innovation and design projects in different contexts
3. describe and explain different perspectives of uncertainties within innovation and design projects
4. discuss and apply innovation and design projects based on theories of uncertainty
Course content
The course consists of theoretical and practical studies of innovation and design management and how uncertainties are managed within innovation- and design projects. The students are expected to apply, discuss, and problematize the perspectives given in the course. In addition, students will have the opportunity to work with project formation during the course.

Specific requirements
A completed Bachelor's degree, equivalent to 140 credits.
Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English A/English 6 are required. For courses given in entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish B/Swedish 3.
Examination
Written assignment (INL1), 2 credits, (examines the learning outcome 2), marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG)
Project (PRO1), 4 credits, (examines the learning outcomes 1, 3 and 4), marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG)
Seminar (SEM1), 1,5 credits, (examines the learning outcomes 1, 3 and 4), marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
