Objectives
In this course students acquires a deeper understanding of creativity, its characteristics, prerequisites and function in change processes within innovation and design.
The course also aims for the student to practice and critically reflect on research-based models for innovation leadership and emergence in a chosen organizational context.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. give an account of different perspectives on actors and roles within innovation and creativity processes,
2. provide written or oral account of the prerequisites and function of group creativity in change processes and leadership in creative processes,
3. be able to design a problem-solving strategy in relation to an action plan for organizational change,
4. discuss and evaluate in writing and orally a selection of methods for leading and supporting innovation processes in an organizational context.
Course content
The course consists of theoretical and empirical studies. Theory is primarily based on current scientific literature in the field. Students are also expected to make their own contribution to knowledge construction during the course through ongoing collaboration with case companies.

Specific requirements
At least 180 credits of higher education. In addition Swedish course B/Swedish course 3 and English course A/English course 6 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish course B/Swedish course 6.
Examination
Assignment (INL1), 2 credits, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G) (examines learning outcome 1)
Assignment (INL2), 3 credits, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G) (examines learning outcomes 2 and 3)
Seminar (SEM1), 2,5 credits, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG) (examines learning outcomes 3 and 4)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
