Objectives
he aim of the course is for the student in project-form to work with various forms of multimodal interactive design in a spatial context, including spatial elements and objects.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
1. Describe and discuss basic concepts in Multimodal interactive design
2. Explain spatial elements of importance for interaction design
3. Explain and apply concepts such as spatial perception and spatial analysis in relation to interaction design in the physical space
4. In project form, apply multimodal interaction and spatial elements in the development of a design proposal
5. Analyze and evaluate a design proposal for a multimodal interactive artifact in its spatial context
Course content
The course deals with and evaluates digital multimodal interaction. The course provides the opportunity to discuss and build knowledge about, for example, sound, voice, movement, gestures and spatial design. The opportunity for knowledge in and experience of spatial perception is also included in the course.
Specific requirements
Completed courses of 30 credits within the program Interaction Design.
Examination
Project (PRO1), An assignment that is presented with a report and demonstration of the project, 4.5 credits, examines learning objectives 1,2,4 and 5, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
Laboratory (LAB1), Laboratory series that is continuously reported according to instructions, 2 credits, examines learning objectives 1,2 and 3, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
Assignment (INL1) An assignment that is presented with written individual reflective text, 1 credit, examines learning objectives 3 and 5, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
