Objectives
This course gives students a deeper understanding of creativity in a group perspective and creativity and innovation leadership. The students will apply and evaluate theoretical knowledge in an innovation process.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Refer to a selection of creative problem solving theories, and apply and evaluate any of these
- Written or orally account for different perspectives on group creativity and leadership in the creative processes
- Written or orally discuss and relate a range of creativity stimulating methods and models to an ongoing innovation process
Course content
The course consists of theoretical and empirical studies. Theory is primarily based on current scientific literature in the field. Students are also expected to make their own contribution to knowledge construction during the course. The students will read up on and discuss the relationship between creativity and an innovation processes. The ultimate goal is to use the knowledge and tools to lead an innovation process.
Tuition
The course includes lectures, seminars, group exercises, group discussions, result reporting in writing as well as orally.
Specific requirements
At least 180 credits of higher education. In addition Swedish course B/Swedish course 3 and English course A/English course 6 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish course B/Swedish course 6.
Examination

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
