How is political life ordered across space and scales? How do things like security technologies, national borders and migration flows, real estate markets and gentrification processes, rural political identities and relations between (colonial) metropoles and peripheries affect power relations in and across societies?

This course provides students with advanced knowledge in the study of political borders, human mobility and spatial orders. It introduces cutting-edge research frontiers in political science and related research areas such as international relations, migration research, political geography, urban and postcolonial studies.

The course provides empirical knowledge about political borders, human mobility and spatial orders at the local, state and international level using contemporary and historical case studies. The course puts a particular focus on promoting understanding of global power relations and contemporary societal challenges.

This is an online course with compulsory online seminars, self-study and written assignments. The course is held in English.
