Get ready to start your studies
Once we're in January, there are a few administrative steps you need to take to start your studies at MDU. Please follow them in the right order and you'll be all set.
1. Create your student account
You will need a student account in order to be able to log into computers, access course material, get into your email and use other IT resources. If you don't have a Swedish personal ID number please email the Student Centre for assistance. Important! Please use the same email address that you used when you applied to MDU. Enclose a copy of your passport page which has your details and photo and please write "Student account" as email subject. You will, from 8 January when account creation is possible, get a reply with instructions within 24 hours (work days).
When you have created your student account with the help of the Student Centre you can register in the student database. You must register for the course or programme, otherwise you will lose your place. The registration for the spring semester 2024 is open between 8 - 21 January. Registration for courses beginning later in the semester opens one week before the course starts and closes on Sunday the same week as the course starts. If you are admitted to a programme, you must register for the course(s) within the programme, then you will be automatically registered on the programme and the place is yours.
3. Order your MDU card
The university card is a personal card that all students can get. You use it to gain access to the university premises, for printing, borrowing books from the library, and other things. It also serves as a travel pass for the free buses between the Eskilstuna campus and the Västerås campus. You order your university card once you have registered for your programme or course. Note! It can take up to six hours after you have made a registration before you can order the card.
We want you to feel welcome and to get the best possible start of your studies. Make sure to be at The Welcoming Winter Edition, 15 January at 17-19 in Campus Eskilstuna.
5. Start of programmes and courses
For international students, the autumn semester 2023 begins on 15 January. Using the link below, you can search for your course or programme for information about location and times. As a programme student, you will have both the start of the programme and the course. Information about which courses are included in your programme can be found in your programme schedule or in Ladok.
6. Student website
On the student website you will find more information about your studies on the programme and course or if you are going to study remotely. Here you can also find information about course syllabuses with reading lists, timetables and the platforms and systems that you as a student will use during your studies.
Student union and associations
To get the most out of your time as a student a tip is to check out both Mälardalen Student Union and the various student associations at the university. Click to learn more.
