Courses in Higher Education Pedagogy

MDU offers courses to employees at MDU to contribute to the development of knowledge in the field of higher education pedagogy

According to SUHF, the qualifying education in higher education pedagogy must comprise at least 10 weeks of full-time studies (15 credits).

The prerequisite for taking a course is a degree from higher education or equivalent. The purpose of the education is to support the basic pedagogical skills required for employment as a teacher at the university, but it is open to all employees who want to learn more.

There are several different higher education pedagogical courses to choose from. Three of them are compulsory, other courses are optional.

Plan for our courses External link.

Student account

Now, employees need to have a student account when they are course participants on a credit-giving course, for example higher education pedagogical courses. It is needed for the automatic result reporting between Canvas and Ladok to function properly and to avoid problems when ITS removes old accounts in the future, something MDU must do according to GDPR.

A student account is automatically connected to Ladok and has a login ID with three letters and five numbers, ex: abc23001, unlike a teacher account which has three letters and two numbers, ex: abc01

If you are going to attend a course and currently only have a teacher account, you must create a student account to be able to log in to the course site in Canvas. The easiest way to create a student account is to go to Studenttorget in Västerås or Eskilstuna. You need to bring identification and say that you are going to take a course. But you can also create a student account via mdu.se (https://portal.mdu.se/studentkonto/ External link.) However, it takes longer, as your password is sent in a letter to your home (5-7 working days).

If you already have a student account but have forgotten your password, you can get a new one at Studenttorget in Västerås or Eskilstuna. You need to have identification with you. But you can go via mdu.se to manage your student account External link.. But it takes longer as your password is sent in a letter to your home (5-7 working days).
