Interlibrary loans and purchase suggestions
If you find a book or an article that is not available at the University Library, we will do our best to get it for you, either by buying it or borrowing it from another library.
This is required of you to be able to do an interlibrary loan
- That you are a student or employee at MDU and that your order is relevant for your work or studies. You need to have a library account at the University Library.
- That your order is relevant to your essay and/or degree project if you are a student from another university or university college.
How it works
- Search in Primo to see if the book or article is available at the University Library.
- We do not order books that are out on loan.
- If we decide to purchase the book it will take 5-10 working days before the book is available to loan.
- If we decide to do an interlibrary loan it can take anywhere from a few days to a few months before you receive the book. This depends on whether the book is out on loan at the library where it is located or whether we have to order the book from another country. Articles usually arrive within a few days.
- The University Library will decide whether the book will be purchased as a physical book or as an e-book.
- It is free to order interlibrary loans.
How do I get the book or article?
Books are to be collected at the University Library. You will receive a message by email when the book is available for pick-up. If you are a student, articles are sent to your registered address. If you are an employee at MDU you can choose whether you want the article to be sent by the internal mail or to your registered address.
Lending period and borrowing rules
