Schedules and Academic calendar
Here you'll find information about your schedule and Academic calendar. Please note that some changes of date, time and place can still occur. Teaching may in some cases be changed to be given remotely or at a different campus. Keep an eye on the schedule page for the current schedule.
Teaching normally takes place between 08.15-17.00, in some cases later.
The teaching schedule for spring semester of 2024 will be published 1 January 2024.
The exam schedule for January and February VT24 will be published during week 1. The exam schedule for the remaining spring semester 2024 will be published during week 3.
The academic year at MDU consists of two semesters, the autumn and the spring semester. There are no official breaks during either semester but normally some 10 - 14 days around Christmas are lecture-free. Keep in mind that you may need to prepare for example group work for a paper during that period.
The two semesters are divided into four study periods each. Please keep this in mind when choosing courses, so that the courses do not collide. Also remember that the normal workload per semester is 30 credits.

Mobile app for schedule and resource booking
MDU have an official mobile app for schedule and resource booking, Kronox. With the mobile app you can search for your course schedules and book group rooms.
Mobile app is mirrored to the schedule on the web which means that it is always up to date. You search for your course schedules, and if you log-in, you can save your schedules. You can also use the resource booking for example book group rooms. If you are in a hurry and just need to find your schedule fast, you do not sign in, you will find your schedule anyway! The mobile app is called Kronox and is available on iTunes App Store and Google Play.

Do you have trouble downloading the KronoX mobile app?
Some android mobile phones that have a newer android version can not download the KronoX mobile app. If the KronoX mobile app can not be downloaded, we refer you to search for your schedule and book group rooms via MDU’s website. During the autumn semester, KronoX will be replaced, a result of that, the existing version of the KronoX mobile app will not be updated.
Are you experiencing problems when booking group rooms in the KronoX mobile app?
Due to the name change from MDH to MDU, students who downloaded the KronoX mobile app before August 2022, are now having problems when booking group rooms through the app. The mobile phone remembers the old address even when reinstalling the app, therefore you must do the following in the KronoX mobile app:
- Click on: settings
- Click on: change university
- Click on: another university (you will not be able to log in here)
- Then click on: settings
- Select: Mälardalen University
- Then log in to the mobile app
