Work as a student ambassador
Do you want a fun and flexible part-time job where you represent Mälardalen University, develop your communication skills, and inspire future students at the same time? Apply for the role of Student Ambassador!
As a student ambassador, you play an important role in the university’s external communication. You help promote our programs, campuses, and student life – primarily to prospective students, but also in other contexts.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Will be a student at Mälardalen University during the 2025/2026 academic year and has completed their first two semesters with us.
- Is outgoing, responsible, and enjoys challenging themselves.
- Is passionate about their studies and wants to inspire others to pursue higher education.
- Is interested in personal development and gaining new experiences.
- Feels confident speaking in front of groups.
Period: October 2025 – June 2026
You will be compensated for your assignments and become part of an engaged team of student ambassadors from various programs and campuses. We offer different roles within the ambassador program. Regardless of your role, you will receive an introduction during our joint training days to help you feel confident in your assignment and get to know your colleagues. These training days are mandatory and paid.
There are three different roles as a student ambassador. You will indicate your interest in your application.
School Visit Performer
As an ambassador visiting high schools, you will inspire students by sharing your own experiences with choosing a program, studying, and student life. You should feel comfortable speaking in front of groups and will be part of a team that plans and carries out visits to high schools in central Sweden. This role gives you experience in running targeted recruitment campaigns and engaging with students from diverse backgrounds and aspirations.
School Visit Planner
As a school visit planner, you will contact high schools across Sweden by phone to offer visits from MDU. Using a booking system, you will schedule visits and collect the necessary information to ensure your colleagues are well-prepared for each successful school visit. If you enjoy structure and connecting with people, this could be the role for you!
Content Creator
You will plan and produce material in close cooperation with the Communications Department to ensure that the assignment can be combined with both your studies and the objectives of the organisation. We are convinced that you, as a student, are the best voice to tell the story of MDU and create content about studying and student life to reach both our current and future students.
The assignment means that you, together with colleagues, carry out, among other things, publishing posts, live broadcasts, interviews, quizzes, surveys and manage our student accounts on social media (Instagram, TikTok, Youtube).
Other tasks
As a student ambassador, you may also:
- Participate in education fairs and open house events.
- Give presentations at high schools.
- Guide visitors on campus.
- Take part in social media campaigns.
- Answer questions from prospective students.

Work as a mentor
As a student, you can take a job as a mentor to another student at the University. Being a mentor means that you help the student to structure and plan their studies and you share your knowledge and experience of study technique and motivation.
Job description
Being a mentor means that you help another student at the university with study planning and structure. You share your knowledge and experience about study techniques and motivation, so it's not about being an extra teacher or proofreader.
The student you meet may, for example, need support in sorting and prioritising tasks and creating schedules. As a mentor, you meet the student once a week for about 1 hour.
To give you the best conditions for the work, you will receive a mentor training programme and continuous support from the university's coordinator of targeted pedagogical support.
You choose whether you want to mentor one or more students. However, all meetings take place individually.
It may be possible to continue the extra job even after you have finished your studies, so apply for the position even if you are in the final phase of your studies.
Qualifications
- You should be a student at MDU and be at an advanced stage of your studies.
- You are structured, responsive and easy to communicate.
- You have some experience of working with people with disabilities such as ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, dyslexia or mental illness,
either in your private life, education or through work experience. - Experience of working with people with visual impairment is an advantage.
Decisive importance is attached to personal suitability.
Your contribution is important
The student you meet has applied for mentoring and considers this type of support relevant and meaningful. That's why your contribution as a mentor is so important!
Work as a note-taking support
Would you like to share your notes from lectures? Helping others who are studying can be a meaningful and instructive extra job. For more information on note-taking support, contact one of the pedagogical support coordinators.
