Innofacture and Innofacture+
With the aim of strengthening Swedish competitiveness on the global market MDU is operating the research school Innofacture and Innofacture+, in cooperation with a research institute and nine of the country’s largest manufacturing companies. The entire project is unique in that it focuses on both innovation and production for developing production processes in the companies.
The research schools are funded primarily with grants from the Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen) and the collaborating companies ABB, Atlas Copco, Bombardier Transportation, Excosoft, Leax, Scania, TPC Components, Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Powertrain.
- The research school is not only important for MDU's research in Innovation and Product Realisation but strengthens companies in the whole region as well and helps to increase their competitiveness. It’s clear that the Knowledge Foundation and the companies believe in us and our research in this field, says Moris Behnam, Director of Research at IPR, MDU.
Innofacture was launched at MDU in 2012, and includes 15 doctoral students, with a further five doctoral students who belong to Innofacture+, which started in 2014. So far, 13 doctoral students have presented and defended their doctoral thesis.
