Discription of the project

The text presents the results of an evaluation of the program for the prevention of violence Very important person (VIP). VIP is a structured education program developed to support people with intellectual disabilities in Eskilstuna municipality.

The target group for VIPs is women and men who receive interventions with the support of the Social Services Act (SoL) or the Act of Support and Service (LSS). The purpose of VIP is to reduce exposure to violence. The majority of participants in the violence prevention program reported a positive development after the intervention. The increase was most pronounced in relation to the participants' sense of conherens. However, it can be stated that there is a need for further knowledge through systematic follow-up and evaluation of VIP.

Purpose of the project

The overall aim of the evaluation has been to 1) examine the validity of the VIP program, ie. the program theory or logic model of VIP, 2) examine how the progam was carried out, ie. program fidelity and 3) evaluate the program's results, ie. if participation in VIP leads to positive change for women and menregarding mental health, exposure to violence and Sense of conherence (KASAM).

Project objectives

Through co-production, assess whether there is reasonable evidence that educational initiatives of the kind provided within the framework of VIP can be said to be suitable for the target group of women and men with intellectual disabilities in general and thus have the potential to change the knowledge and behavior variables to which the program relates.

Further, to study program fidelity or "program fidelity" in the implementation of the program by examining the extent to which the training provided is in accordance with the intentions or "theory" of the VIP program.
By measuring, for example, self-esteem, self-awareness and exposure to violence before and after the intervention, it becomes possible to capture the changes that take place over time. At this stage of the evaluation, the results of the VIP effort are examined, ie. in which or which way the initiative has the potential to change the users' mental health, exposure to conflicts and violence and Sense of Coherence (KASAM).
