The project is about developing a better and safer system for decontamination of lakes and seas using stereo vision in reconfigurable hardware (FPGA). The project primarily targets the clean-up of sea mines in the Baltic Sea, but also to some extent in the lake Vättern.

Description of the project
VARUM is a two-year project which Mälardalen University runs in cooperation with SAAB Dynamics. The project is about developing a better and safer system for decontamination of lakes and seas using stereo vision in reconfigurable hardware (FPGA). The project primarily targets the clean-up of sea mines in the Baltic Sea, but also to some extent in the lake Vättern. The technology can also be used in other streams in the coming years.
