How do small and medium-sized enterprises and their decision-makers think about sustainability today? The answer to that question has a major impact on how the sustainability challenge facing society will be addressed.
Surveys of sustainability attitudes and public opinion among citizens and consumers are conducted continuously, and when sustainability is studied in the business sector, it is most often large companies that are surveyed. However, the vast majority of companies and business leaders in Sweden consist of small and medium-sized enterprises (fewer than 250 employees), yet we know relatively little about how owners and managers within these companies view the sustainability challenge and how they integrate sustainability into their operations. To generate knowledge in this area, we have developed MDU’s Sustainability Barometer, which takes the temperature of such attitudes among decision-makers in small and medium-sized enterprises.
We will continuously present statistics and information from our large-scale surveys with the aim of providing data and insights for policymakers, public authorities, the media, interest organizations, and researchers.
