This project is aimed at teaching in compulsory and upper secondary special schools, which cater to students with intellectual disabilities. The teaching in these schools is characterized by a multifaceted educational mission. Over several decades, there have been significant changes in the perception of the knowledge that students with intellectual disabilities need. The complexity of the educational mission in these schools necessitates a greater need for professional development for the staff working in these educational forms.

The purpose of the program is to contribute knowledge on how teaching for students in special schools (adapted compulsory and upper secondary schools) can be developed/designed in a dialectical relationship with local conditions to enhance students' opportunities to achieve the overall and curriculum-specific goals of these educational forms. Within the framework of the program, staff work on local school development using the research circle method. The basis for working on development within the framework of a research circle is the idea that an ongoing dialogue between practitioners and researchers contributes to the development of their own practice.
