– These persons are to a lesser degree involved in the labour market than persons in the general population. Therefore, the study aims to map out obstacles in work life as well as in care. By mapping out prejudices and stereotypes, the possibilities for these persons to be a part of the labour market is increased, says Magnus Elfström.
The survey is divided into the areas care, individual and work, and it is conducted by means of questionnaires with just under 300 participants from uninstitutionalized mental health care in the county councils of Södermanland and Västmanland.
– Examples of obstacles could be insufficient flexibility regarding working hours, because it can be difficult for the individuals to leave work and go to treatment appointments. Obstacles could also include that the individuals are not seen as fit for work, and that rehabilitation therefore is not planned and prioritized in the right way, says Magnus Elfström.
