In light of the Swedish healthcare vision of becoming a leading country in E- health, the project is carried out in collaboration between Mälardalens University and two need owners within Region Sörmland.

The project applies an interactive research approach and will, together with the need owners, explore what constitutes best practices in the form of new management and balancing practices that lead to organizational learning with increased dynamic ability, digital maturity and in the long term successful development and implementation of new e-health services as a result.

Experience from the Region's own E-health and digitization work as well as research overviews of implemented digitization initiatives show, however, that there are major challenges in the development and implementation of new innovative digitization solutions in the public sector. Research shows a strong connection between an organization's dynamic ability and the organization's ability to generate new innovative services, and new studies indicate that there is a similar relationship between an organization's dynamic ability, digital maturity and successful digital transformation.

However, studies of dynamic ability are mainly carried out at the organizational level and there is a need to better understand the system of microelements that builds the dynamic ability and how different system levels interact. Ie. In practice, there is still room for maneuvering and balancing practices based on a systems perspective that helps to systematically build up that type of critical organizational abilities (dynamic ability and digital maturity) and how these abilities are learned and developed in practice.

Project purpose

Together with the need owners, explore what constitutes best practices in the form of new managing and balancing practices that enables organizational learning with increased dynamic ability, digital maturity and in the long run successful development of implementation of new e-health services as a result.
