The research group's didactic focus concerns the school's art-based subjects and expressions, especially music, dance, rhythm, image, drama and theatre. The interest is in the place and content of the arts in preschool, school and cultural school, which has an impact on children and young people's ability to express themselves and interpret the varied expressions of others.
The members of the research group, which consist of doctoral students, junior and senior researchers, work with both practical and professionally relevant projects. Our practical focus has the ambition to influence the conditions, forms and content of teaching. This means that the activities take place in collaboration with active teachers at Mälardalen University as well as with teachers and management at schools, preschools and cultural schools.
Ongoing research projects
The project contributes scientific knowledge about how preschool teachers can develop competence in teaching children in and through music. In addition, it creates opportunities for all preschool staff to develop subject knowledge and didactic action knowledge related to music education.
