About the Master's Programme in Politics and Sustainable Societies

Our courses give you advanced knowledge in political science while encouraging you to think across different disciplines. You will develop strong skills in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and apply them to real-world challenges.

By working with the latest research, you will explore major changes shaping global politics – such as the impact of new technologies, shifting power relations between countries, and risks to democracy.

This combination will equip you with the knowledge and perspective to understand and engage with the key challenges shaping our world today.

This is a fully online programme, with teaching delivered via digital lectures and interactive seminars. You will take part in online sessions and use modern digital tools designed to make learning interactive and encourage exchange of ideas.

Our teaching style is highly interactive and based on dialogue, with a strong focus on inclusion and the diverse experiences that students bring. Project work and independent study play a key role, keeping you actively involved throughout your studies.

You will also benefit from close support by dedicated faculty members, all of whom are active researchers across different subfields of the discipline.

Options within the programme

The programme offers two study tracks: when you are accepted to the programme, you can opt to study a one-year master’s degree or a two-year master’s degree.

In the two-year Master’s track, the third term gives you the chance to shape your studies around your own interests and career goals. You can choose to do an internship, take elective courses, or focus on research-oriented courses that prepare you for a role as an analyst or for doctoral studies.

Future and career

As a graduate of the Master’s in Politics and Sustainable Societies you will have advanced knowledge in political science and strong skills in analysing complex societal challenges.
