“I’ve gained lifelong friends, new knowledge and lasting memories”

When Siham Mohamed began studying International Business Management, she found a sense of community, inspiration, and a pathway towards an international future in leadership and project management. By challenging herself and staying open to new experiences, she has gained a great deal, both personally and academically, during her time at MDU.

When Siham Mohamed discovered the International Business Management programme at MDU — taught entirely in English and with a strong international focus — she immediately felt it was the perfect match. She already had a strong interest in business, and with siblings who had studied here and enjoyed their time, the decision became even easier.

MDU är ett av få universitet som erbjuder ekonomiutbildningar på engelska, vilket var viktigt för mig. Det är också en levande studentstad med mycket liv och många möjligheter, och närheten till Stockholm gjorde det ännu mer attraktivt. Sammantaget kändes det som det bästa valet för mina studier.

How would you describe your everyday life as a student at MDU?

My student life has been very active, especially because I joined the Student Union early on. The programme itself is manageable, with classes and lectures that give you enough flexibility to explore the city, spend time with friends, and make the most out of your university experience. I’ve truly enjoyed balancing my studies with social and extracurricular activities.

What has been the best thing so far about the program and studying at MDU?

The best part for me has definitely been meeting so many new people, including Erasmus students who have inspired me to consider going on an Erasmus exchange myself. Getting to know my classmates has been wonderful, everyone has been welcoming, supportive, and incredibly friendly. MDU overall is such an inspiring university with many opportunities for students.

I’ve made lifelong friends in this programme, and they have played a huge role in making my university experience unforgettable. Thanks to them, I’ve been able to achieve things I didn’t know I was capable of. Their support and friendship have meant everything to me.

Is the education close to reality?

Yes, absolutely. One of the strengths of MDU is the connection to real-life organizations, especially through activities linked to the Student Union. I’ve been able to make contacts with companies and organizations that I believe will be helpful for my future career. The programme also includes practical elements, like pitching business ideas that prepare you for real scenarios in the workplace.

How do you think the education here at MDU will help you in the future?

This programme is my first bachelor’s degree, and it has already given me a strong foundation for the future. Both the courses and the various events I’ve participated in have provided insight into the professional world and helped me understand what kind of career I want to pursue. I see myself working in project management or leadership roles. I’d love to be part of a company that gives me creative freedom and challenges me to learn and grow every day.

If you’re thinking about applying, I want you to know that this programme offers many opportunities. Don’t be afraid to step into situations that feel new or uncomfortable—those are the experiences that help shape you for the future. I have made lifelong friends, gained knowledge, and created unforgettable memories here. If you challenge yourself and stay open to new experiences, you will grow so much both personally and academically at MDU.
