Industry 4.0 - Realisation
Our Industry 4.0 – Realisation course covers all aspects of digitalisation and automation of smart factories. The course focuses on the application of new technologies with practical examples in complete production settings.
The course is mainly online, with 2 physical laboratories in Eskilstuna.
As global competition becomes fiercer, new technologies are being employed to increase the productivity of manufacturing systems through connectivity, intelligent systems, and automation. This course provides methods and guidelines for designing and running a smart factory. The course mixes theoretical knowledge with practical exercises on an industrial cyber-physical production system.
The course covers digitalisation and automation technologies and their application in smart factories. Technologies covered include simulation and deployment, digital twin, connectivity as an enabler for e.g. predictive maintenance, manufacturing execution systems and robotics.
What you will learn
- Overview of a cyber-physical production system
- Practical examples of technologies employed in such a system
- Interaction between technologies in the cyber-physical production system
90 credits in mechanical engineering, production engineering, product and process development, computer engineering and/or computer science or equivalent. In addition, English course A/English course 6 is required.
You can also apply for the course and get your eligibility evaluated based on knowledge acquired in other ways, such as work experience, other studies etc. Read more in Application information below.

No academic qualifications?
Many courses requires that you have previous academies studies, but we validate work experience to assess if you have the knowledge that is equal to the eligibility requirements for the course.
If you don’t have the formal qualifications required, please send in a certificate of employment (current or previous) and a CV/Description of competence that describes your educational and professional background. Please include a short description of your work experience, not only the work title.
