Specific requirements

Admitted to third cycle education and/or have a Master´s degree in one of the subject areas Work Life Studies, Public Health Science, Caring Science with Specialization in Nursing, Nursing Science, Medi-cal Science, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or the equivalent. In addition, Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English B/English 6 are required.

Objectives

The course objective is that students will understand and apply vari-ous perspectives, theories and concepts within health and welfare, re-late to its complexity, as well as clarify their own knowledge contribu-tion in relation to health and welfare.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:

  1. be able to describe and discuss theories and concepts within health and welfare.
  2. contrast and analyse various perspectives on health and welfare.
  3. position their own research within health and welfare and
    assess its contribution of knowledge to the field of study.

Course content

The course consists of a digital course module with recorded lectures and seminars with the following content:

  • Epistemological and ontological positions
  • Theories and concepts in health and welfare at an individual, group, organisational and societal level.
  • Research in relation to health and welfare.
  • The contribution of the doctoral thesis project to research and utilisation within health and welfare.

Examination

Home exam HEM 1, 1,5 credit

Seminar SEM 1, 1 credit

Seminar SEM 2, 1 credit

Seminar SEM 3, 1,5 credits
