Course objective
Based on the doctoral student's thesis work and research communication, the course content and teaching aims to provide in-depth insights into popular science and multimedia research communication as well as to potential collaboration partners both within and outside academia and the challenges associated with this.

- Popular science and multimedia research communication
- Considerations and dilemmas in research communication
- Communication of research to other researchers and partners (local, regional, national and international), the public and to students
Intented learning outcomes
After completing the course, the doctoral student must be able to:
- make different considerations orally and in writing, present and discuss research and research results in dialogue with different target groups
The intended qualitative targets in relation to the Higher Education Ordinance, appendix 2.
Competence and skills
For the Degree of Doctor, the doctoral student shall demonstrate
- B4: the ability in both national and international contexts to present and discuss research and research findings authoritatively in speech and writing and in dialogue with the academic community and society in general,
- B5: the ability to identify the need for further knowledge, and
- B6: the capacity to contribute to social development and support the learning of others both through research and education and in some other qualified professional capacity.
Judgement and approach
For a Degree of Doctor the doctoral student shall demonstrate
- C2: specialised insight into the possibilities and limitations of research, its role in society and the responsibility of the individual for how it is used.

Lectures, seminars, workshops
Examination
INL 1: Written submission task, 1.5 credits
SEM 1: Seminars, 1 credit
Grade
Examinations included in the course are assessed according to a two-grade scale, fail or pass.
Grades are to be decided by a teacher specially appointed by the university.
A person who has not passed the regular examination shall be given the opportunity to retake the test.
Requirements
To participate in the course and the examinations included in the course, the applicant must be admitted to doctoral studies. Subject to availability, teachers at Mälardalen University that hold a doctorate can be offered to take part of the course.
