English from a contrastive perspective
The course provides students with the opportunity to acquire more in-depth knowledge of the structure and characteristics of English, in relation to Swedish. The primary focus is on differences in grammar and pronunciation, though word choice issues, spelling and writing rules are taken up as well. The course functions as a complement to English studies without contrastive English-Swedish elements.

Scheduled teaching activities (e.g. web-based seminars) are included even when the course is offered as a distance course, and participation is compulsory. There is no scheduled teaching on campus, but there is an exam-hall examination that needs to be taken on the MDU campus (or at another university or study centre, in which case this has to be applied for well ahead of the exam, via a form available on the MDU homepage). Participation in the course presupposes a good internet connection, as well as access to headphones, a microphone and a web camera.
