Objectives
The aim of the course is to create a foundation and develop the student's vocal, scenic and textual skills and knowledge in Chamber Opera.
Learning outcomes
After having completed the course the student is expected to be able to:
- musically and technically use and perform with the own instrument based on an awareness of methods in chamber opera
- receive and use musical, technical and scenic instructions in chamber opera
- show an understanding of the role of text in musical interpretation
- use scenic tools to improve the own individual artistic expression and musicianship in chamber opera constellations
- orally explain the fundamentals of chamber opera
- show knowledge in different types of theoretical terms in music theory, and vocally perform melodies and rhytms with or without preparation

Specific requirements
A minimum of 120 credits from artistic education in music and/or theater or equivalent, and approved obligatory audition. In addition Swedish course 3 or Swedish level 3 and English course 6 or English level 2 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish course 3 or Swedish level 3.
Examination
SEM1, Seminar (Main Instrument), 11 credits, performance in individual main instrument lessons concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM2, Seminar (Master Class), 1 credit, performance in master class concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM3, Seminar (Collaborative Work), 5.5 credits, collaborative work concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM4, Seminar (Scenic Performance), 4 credits, classes in scenic performance concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM5, Seminar (History of Chamber Opera), 0.5 credit, oral examination of the history of chamber opera concerning learning outcome 5, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM6, Seminar (Music Theory and Auditive Training), 0.5 credit, classes in music theory and auditive training concerning learning outcome 6, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
PRO1, Project report (Public Performance), 7.5 credits, final public performance concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
