Human-Centered Design Toolkit: An Open-Source Toolkit To Inspire New Solutions in the Developing World by IDEO
Objectives
The aim is to provide in-depth knowledge in concept development and competence to develop design concept proposals.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student shall be able to:
1. reflect and demonstrate in-depth knowledge regarding concepts, methods and processes within concept development
2. independently search and document contextual data as a basis for conceptual ideas
3. describe and visualize a complex dilemma
4. independently master creative tools and methods for creating ideas based on analysis of research and feedback loops
5. construct ideas through visualization or other artifacts
6. evaluate concepts through iteration with users or other relevant stakeholders
Course content
The course contains an in-depth analysis of all phases of concept development focusing on complex situations and multiple perspectives.
Specific requirements
Completed courses of 180 credits including the course Creative concept development 1 7,5 credits or corresponding.
In addition, Swedish course B/Swedish course 3 and English course A/English course 6 are required. For courses given entirely in English, exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish course B/Swedish course 3.
Examination
Written assignment (INL1), 2 credits, examines the learning objectives 1-2, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG)
Written assignment (INL2), 1,5 credits, examines the learning objective 1 and 3, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG)
Written assignment (INL3), 2,5 credits, examines the learning objective 1, 4 och 5, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG)
Written assignment (INL4), 1,5 credits, examines the learning objective 1 and 6, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
