Objectives
The objective of the course is to provide the participant with opportunity to develop ability to supervise thesis projects.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the participant is expected to be able to
- discuss and problematize the impact/importance of the supervisor and supervision on student learning. in the participants' own subject area, on the basis of research in educational sciences and/or subject didactics of relevance for supervision processes and ethics in research
- independently reflect on planning, implementation and evaluation of supervision
- provide constructive response and carry out formative assessment
- reflect on aspects of inclusion in the supervision of students

- Theoretical and methodological perspectives on supervision
- Strategies for developing academic literacy and academic skills
- Constructive response and formative assessment
- The supervisor role - the relationship with the student
- Research ethics

Examination
SEM1, Seminar, 1 credit, active participation in seminars concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
FSR1, Field study report, 1 credit, written report concerning learning outcomes 1 and 2, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
INL1, Assignment, 1 credit, individual written assignment concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
