Objectives
The aim of the course is to provide knowledge on how production development can contribute to "Industrial Excellence" within the manufacturing industry. The goal in the course is for students to manage an improvement project of a real industrial production process and use Industry 4.0 technology to suggest improvements of the production process.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student shall be able to:
- plan, manage, and implement an improvement project of a real industrial production process
- analyze literature and utilize theoretical findings for improving a project of a real industrial production process
- design, develop and deploy an Industry 4.0 technology-based solution in an improvement project of a real industrial production process
- demonstrate the ability to individually and as a group member perform and present project and seminar assignments, both orally and in writing and to critically and constructively provide feedback on such presentations
Course content
- Development of production systems
- Industry 4.0 technology as tools to support improvement suggestions.
- Performing of applied improvement studies of a section of an industrial production system within manufacturing industry
Specific requirements
Completed courses of 15 credits, on advanced level, in Product and Process Development, including 7.5 credits of the course Production System Development. In addition, Swedish course 3 or Swedish level 3 and English course 6 or English level 2 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish course 3 or Swedish level 3.
Examination
Seminar (SEM1), 1,5 credits, examines learning outcomes 1, 3 and 4, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
Project (PRO1), 6 credits, an assignment presented orally and written via a report, examines learning outcomes 1-4, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
