Course literature is preliminary up to 8 weeks before course start. Course literature can be valid over several semesters.
Objectives
The purpose of the course is to develop the participant's understanding of students' academic writing.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the participant shall demonstrate the ability to
- independently and jointly with others, plan, implement and evalutate teaching and assessment with focus on students' development in academic writing
- collect, analyse and communicate their own and others' experiences of teaching and learning practices within academic writing, as a basis for the development of educational practice and the academic profession
- discuss theoretical perspectives on academic writing in a subject didactic context

- Arguments, critical attitude, formalia and structure in a subject didactic context
- Strategies for developing students' writing
- Different forms of feedback
Specific requirements
A teaching position at Mälardalen University.
Examination
MUN1, Oral examination, 1 credit, oral presentation concerning learning outcomes 1-3, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
INL1, Assignment, 1 credit, filmed student respons concerning learning outcomes 1-2, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM1, Seminar, 0.5 credit, active participation in seminars concerning learning outcomes 2-3, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
For Pass (G) on the course as a whole, the student must have earned that grade for MUN1, INL1 and SEM1.
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
