Objectives
The course aims to deepen the student's experience of how information design is applied in practice. This is done through collaboration with partners, through internships or through design projects. In addition, the aim is for the student to develop his/her ability to work with and reflect on design choices and processes based on purpose, industry practice, context, users, resources, sustainability and ethics.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- Motivate and discuss design choices based on purpose, context, users, resources, sustainability and ethics
- Identify and reflect on industry-specific practices and processes in a specific context
- Plan, implement and reflect on user involvement and collaboration in a design work
Course content
The course focuses on industry practices in information design as well as practical collaboration with organizations and users. A particular focus is on reflecting on the making in the design process from these perspectives. The course includes internship or project work with supervision to support the design process. Within these, design choices are addressed based on practices, needs, resources and time, users, context, sustainability and ethics. The course also includes lectures and seminars, mainly focusing on industry practice, user involvement and collaboration.
Specific requirements
60 credits completed courses in Information Design, of which 30 credits from specialization courses and 30 credits from general information design.
Examination
Seminar (SEM1), 2.5 credits, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G), examines learning outcomes 1-3
Assignment (INL1), 5 credits, marks Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG), examines learning outcomes 2 and 3
Project (PRO1), 7.5 credits, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G), examines learning outcomes 1 and 3
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
