Objectives
The purpose of the course is to provide knowledge of industrial digital twins, and their application in various real-world domains in the context of Industry 4.0. The course will provide students with an understanding of when using digital twins may be a good solution in the development of production systems.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student shall be able to:
- Describe the use of digital twins for virtual production
- Demonstrate how to develop production processes using digital twins
- Describe how to design and implement production processes which include digital twins
Course content
Applications of digital twins in Industry 4.0 for virtual production.
Specific requirements
75 credits in mechanical engineering, production engineering, product and process development, computer engineering and/or computer science or equivalent or 40 credits in engineering/technology and at least 2 years' experience in full-time employment in a relevant area within industry. In addition, Swedish course B/Swedish course 3 and English course A/English course 6 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement in Swedish course B/Swedish course 3.
Examination
Project (PRO1), 2 credits, examines learning outcomes 1-3, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
