Course literature is preliminary up to 8 weeks before course start. Course literature can be valid over several semesters.
Objectives
The objective of the course is for the student to acquire enhanced vocal, scenic and textual skills and knowledge, and to further develop his/her own artistic expression to, as an artist, become more individual and independent.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to
- musically and technically use and perform with the own instrument based on an awareness of methods
- perform a varied and for each student technically and musically challenging repertoire from different musical styles
- show understanding of demands concerning professional auditions for singers
- critically analyze textual content and adequate pronunciation in the musical and scenic interpretation

- Masterclass - performance of repertoire with teacher/instructor in front of other students

Specific requirements
At least 20 credits Main instrument or equivalent. Audition is also required.
Examination
SEM1, Seminar (Main instrument), 11 credits, passed performance in individual main instrument lessons concerning learning outcomes 1, 2 and 4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM2, Seminar (Masterclass), 1 credit, passed performance in masterclass concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM3, Seminar (Collaborative work), 3 credits, passed performance in individual lessons in interpretation concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
