Objectives
The purpose of the course is to perform a project work within energy, as well as provide skills in project management and project work, both theoretical and practical.
Learning outcomes
1. Implement project management, formulate a project plan and justify approaches
2. Identify, describe, and reflect on various factors that affect project work, including technical, ethical, and financial aspects
3. Together in the group, apply theories and models in the field of energy to solve an energy engineering problem
4. Collaborate as a group to jointly achieve the set project goals
5. Communicate and present methods and results in writing and orally
6. In the group, prepare and carry out a scientific opposition
7. Interpret and analyze both own and others' results in a critical manner with regard to various limitations
Course content
Project management and project plan. Teamwork. A larger project task that is carried out in a group containing a current issue in the field of energy technology. The project assignment can be linked to industrial needs and contains one or more of the following elements: measurement/experiment, calculation, simulation, analysis of results, dimensioning.
Specific requirements
90 credits of completed courses within an energy engineering program of which 60 credits within an energy subject and 7.5 credits within mathematics.
Examination
Seminar (SEM1), 2 credits, grade: Pass (G) or Fail (U). Learning outcome: 1, 5, 6 och 7.
Project (PRO1), 5,5 credits, grade: 3, 4 or 5. Learning outcome: 1-7.
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
