Objectives
The main goal of the course is to provide knowledge about the planning and implementation of industrialization activities and processes for new products and production technologies including Industry 4.0 in manufacturing industry order to increase the speed of production ramp-up. Through the course, students will gain knowledge on methods, tools, and strategies that are required to carry out an effective industrialization process for achieving a good integrated product and production development.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course the student should be able to:
1. Describe the industrialization process and various activities, methods and tools used to reduce disturbancesin integrated product and production development.
2. Demonstrate skills in comparing and analyzing similarities and dissimilarities of different industrialization processes, activities, methods, and tools.
3. Demonstrate skills in describing various factors that affect industrialization of new products and production technologies including advance digital or Industry 4.0 technologies
4. Analyze the limitations and opportunities for improvement of current industrialization process, and explain the potential role of digitalization and Industry 4.0 technologies.
5. Demonstrate the ability to perform a practical work related to the industrialization of a new product or a production technology

Specific requirements
Completed courses of 75 credits, of which 30 credits in Product and process development, industrial engineering and management, or innovation technology.
Examination
Seminar (SEM1), 2,5 credits, examines the learning outcomes 1 - 3, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
Project (PRO1), 5 credits, examines the learning outcomes 3 - 5, marks Fail (U) or Pass (G)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
