Objectives
The objective of the course is for students to independently plan, carry out, analyse and present a developmental- or research project within a Behavioural Medicine problem domain in Physiotherapy.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
1 show knowledge and understanding of how physiotherapy with specialisation in behavioural medicine can be applied within identified problem area
2 show in-depth insight into current research and in-depth methodological knowledge
3 demonstrate the ability to critically and systematically integrate knowledge in the degree project
4 demonstrate the ability to critically, independently and systematically identify and formulate research questions, plan and with adequate methods carry out the planned degree project within given time frame and thereby contribute to the development of knowledge
5 demonstrate the ability to independently and clearly report and critically discuss all parts of the degree project orally and in writing
6 within the field of physiotherapy with specialization in behavioral medicine, make judgements with regard to relevant scientific, societal and ethical aspects of the thesis

Specific requirements
A Bachelor's degree within the subject domain of Physiotherapy, Qualitative Research Methods I or Quantitative Research Methods I, or the equivalent, 7.5 credits. Behavioural Medicine in Physiotherapy, 7,5 credits and Development of Physiotherapy with Specialization in Behavioural Medicine, 7,5 hp or the equivalent. In addition Swedish B/Swedish 3 and English B/English 6 are required. For courses given entirely in English exemption is made from the requirement for Swedish B/Swedish 3.
Examination
EXA1, Degree project, 15 credits, grades Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
