Objectives

The objective of the course is to provide the participant with opportunity to develop understanding of accessibility issues in higher education

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the participant is expected to be able to

  1. demonstrate the ability to independently and jointly with others, plan and evaluate teaching and assessment in higher education from an accessibility perspective
  2. problematise and discuss rules and regulations regarding students with disabilities and of available student support
  3. reflect on their professional approach to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and their relationship with the students from an accessibility perspective

Course content

  • Difficulties and possibilities for accessibility in encounters between the student and higher education
  • Theoretical, didactical, and pedagogical perspectives on accessibility in learning situations

Specific requirements

Employment intended for teaching at Mälardalen University.

Examination

INL1, Assignment, 1.5 credits, written assignment concerning learning outcomes 1-3, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM1, Seminar, 1.5 credits, seminars concerning learning outcomes 1-3, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding disability study support, can request adaptions for the examination. It is the examiner who takes decisions on any adaptions, based on the certificate and other conditions.
