Objectives
The objective of the course is for the student to acquire further enhanced vocal, scenic and textual skills and knowledge and to further develop his/her own artistic expression to, as an artist, become more individual and independent.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to
1. musically and technically use and perform with the own instrument based on critical and reflective methods
2. perform a varied and for each student technically and musically challenging repertoire from different musical styles
3. show good understanding of demands concerning professional auditions for singers
4. critically analyze textual content and adequate pronunciation in the musical and scenic interpretation

Specific requirements
Main Instrument, continuation course 1 for Singers or equivalent.
Examination
SEM1, Seminar (Main instrument), 11 credits, passed performance in individual main instrument lessons concerning learning outcomes 1, 2 and 4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM2, Seminar (Masterclass), 1 credit, passed performance in masterclass concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM3, Seminar (Collaborative work), 3 credits, passed performance in individual lessons in interpretation concerning learning outcomes 1-4, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
