Objectives
The purpose of the course is to develop the participant's understanding of students' academic writing.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the participant shall demonstrate the ability to:
1. independently and jointly with others, plan, implement and evalutate teaching and assessment with focus on students' development in academic writing,
2. collect, analyse and communicate their own and others' experiences of teaching and learning practices within academic writing, as a basis for the development of educational practice and the academic profession,
3. discuss theoretical perspectives on academic writing in a subject didactic context.

- Arguments, critical attitude, formalia and structure in a subject didactic context
- Strategies for developing students' writing
- Different forms of feedback
Specific requirements
A teaching position at Mälardalen University.
Examination
MUN1, oral examination, 1 credits, oral presentation concerning learning outcomes 1-3, grade Fail (U) or Pass (G).
INL1, written assignment, 1 credits, filmed student respons concerning learning outcomes 1 and 2, grade Fail (U) or Pass (G).
SEM1, seminar, 1 credits, active participation in seminars concerning learning outcomes 2 and 3, grades Fail (U) or Pass (G).
For Pass (G) on the course as a whole, the student must have earned that grade for MUN1, INL1 and SEM1.
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
