Objectives
The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge and skills needed to manage international projects. The student will acquire knowledge about concepts and theories related to international project management, and knowledge, skills and behaviors required to successfully manage projects that span organizations, national, and cultural boundaries.
Learning outcomes
After completed course the student shall be able to:
1. Explain basic project planning- and management concepts, methodologies, tools and techniques.
2. Suggest solutions to issues related to ethics, gender and cross-cultural collaboration in virtual teams.
3. Demonstrate skills and abilities to plan, implement and report a student-led activity
4. Describe different ways of studying international projects.
5. Critically reflect on the managing of international projects in light of contemporary research.
6. Demonstrate the ability to communicate (in writing and orally) and to refer to appropriate literature and referencing it in a correct way.
Course content
The course covers concepts, models and theories in the contemporary field of international project management. It provides perspectives and tools for work in, as well as theoretical analysis of, international projects. The course is based on flexible learning through individual and group assignments.

Specific requirements
30 credits in Business Administration whereof 22,5 credits should be finished when the course starts. In addition English course B/English course 6 is required.
Examination
Written exam (HEM1), 2,5 credits. Pass (G), Pass with distinction (VG) (learning objective 1)
Project work (PRO1), 2,5 credits. Pass (G) (learning objective 2 and 3)
Written assignment (INL1), 1 credit. Pass (G) (learning objective 4 and 6)
Written assignment (INL1), 2,5 credits. Pass (G) or Pass with distinction (VG) (learning objective 5 and 6)
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
