Objectives
The objective of the course is for students to acquire further in-depth knowledge of how theories in behavioural medicine can be applied in a field of work in physiotherapy. Further, the objective is for students to acquire knowledge of how a theoretical framework can be used for a planned degree project.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students shall be able to:
1 systematically search for relevant studies concerning applications of theories and models in behavioural medicine
2 critically review studies concerning applications of theories and models in behavioural medicine for a field of work in physiotherapy
3 distinguish how theories and models in behavioural medicine can be applied for the chosen field of work
4 evaluate the evidence for application of theories and models in behavioural medicine
5 analyse, evaluate and explain application of theories and models in the chosen field of work
6 compile an analysis of how theories and models in behavioural medicine can constitute a theoretical framework for a planned degree project or alternatively clinical development project

Qualitative Research Methods I, 7.5 credits and Quantitative Research Methods I, 7.5 credits or the equivalent, and also En A/En 6.
Examination
INL1, Written assignment, 7.5 credits, grades Fail (U), Pass (G) or Pass with Distinction (VG).
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
