Objectives
The purpose of this course is to engage students in the learning processes of reflection and analysis. It requires them to integrate the experiences and insights gained through their internships with the academic theory, principles, concepts, and social and ethical dimensions of business administration.
In addition to academic goals, this course, which combines abstract/theoretical and experiential learning, is intended to: further students' lifelong learning skills, enhance their professional and public speaking skills, strengthen their personal and professional values and ethics, clarify their personal and career goals, and develop their self-confidence.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course, the student shall be able to
1. Describe and motivate the role of business administration in the working life
2. Apply and evaluate theoretical concepts and research methods learned in business courses in a business environment in relation to actual problems and situations.
3. Identify ideas and arguments relating the internship experience to career/lifelong learning and goals.
4. Show a developed competence in writing and oral communication
5. Identify personal strengths and weaknesses to better prepare for initial employment
Course content
This course is a supervised work experience in business. As an upper level undergraduate, it offers: 1) the opportunity to earn credit while exploring a career in business, and 2) the chance to apply concepts learned in business courses to real problems faced by firms.

Specific requirements
Business Administration 60 credits with progression. At least 45 credits must be completed by course start including 15 credits on level G1F. In addition, English course B/English course 6 is required.
Foreign students are required to submit a test of English equivalent to a TOEFL test result of at least 575 with TWE score 4.5 (PBT) or 90 with TWE score 20 (iBT) or an IELTS test score for academic purposes with an overall band score of 6.5 and no band score below 5.5. The test is mandatory for all applicants except for those from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Great Britain and the USA.

A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.

The student intern is expected to work a total of 160 hours (4 weeks full-time) under the direct supervision of qualified working professionals in order to earn full academic credits on PRA1.
