Objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the student(s) with knowledge in modern quality and maintenance technology, its terms and techniques.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
1. describe the concepts of quality, quality control, quality assurance and what is meant by "Total Quality Management" (TQM)
2. conduct an improvement project according to the Six Sigma model
3. apply the 7 QC tools
4. apply statistical design of experiments (SFP/ DOE) for the optimisation of a design or process
5. describe the concepts of reliability, operational safety and condition-based maintenance and be able to perform basic calculations such as for the operational safety of systems
6. carry out risk analyses such as FTA / FMEA
7. demonstrate knowledge of safety development as for "safety teams"
8. describe quality standards and their application for safety critical systems
9. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of lean production and its methods and tools
10. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of excellence models for quality
11. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the measurement of customer satisfaction
