Objectives
The aim of the course is that the student will acquire knowledge of physical exercise as a scientific field and knowledge of individualised physical exercise.
Learning outcomes
1 explain physiological, psychological and social effects of physical exercise
2 describe methods of assessment, measurement and evaluation of physical exercise
3 adapt individual training doses based on behavioural aspects
4 explain and apply fitness and strength training on the basis of individual ability
5 give examples of different groups’ needs of support for the implementation of a physically active lifestyle
6 summarise the health economics and consequences of physical inactivity

Basic training physiology
Plan, assess, dose, evaluate physical exercise and prescribe physical activity on prescription

Teaching consists of lectures, group discussions, laboratory studies, seminars and individual work.

General entry requirements
Examination
INL1, Written assignment, 4.5 credits. Written and individual assignment regarding learning objectives 1-6. Marks Fail (U), Pass (G), or Pass with Credit (VG).
SEM1, Seminar, 3 credits, regarding learning objectives 1-6. Marks Fail (U) or Pass (G).
To receive a Pass with Credit on the course, a VG on INL1 and a G on SEM1 is required. For further details, please refer to the Study Guide.
A student who has a certificate from MDU regarding a disability has the opportunity to submit a request for supportive measures during written examinations or other forms of examination, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for Examinations at First-cycle and Second-cycle Level at Mälardalen University (2020/1655). It is the examiner who takes decisions on any supportive measures, based on what kind of certificate is issued, and in that case which measures are to be applied.
Suspicions of attempting to deceive in examinations (cheating) are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, and are examined by the University’s Disciplinary Board. If the Disciplinary Board considers the student to be guilty of a disciplinary offence, the Board will take a decision on disciplinary action, which will be a warning or suspension.
